A simple and sensitive colorimetric pH meter based on DNA conformational switch and gold nanoparticle aggregation.

A simple and rapid colorimetric pH meter has been developed based on the conformational switch of i-motif DNA and non-crosslinking AuNP aggregation, the average accuracy of the nano-meter was found to be +/-0.04 pH unit across the physiological operating range.

Generic phosphatase activity detection using zinc mediated aggregation modulation of polypeptide-modified gold nanoparticles.

A challenge in the design of plasmonic nanoparticle-based colorimetric assays is that the change in colloidal stability, which generates the colorimetric response, is often directly linked to the biomolecular recognition event. New assay strategies are hence required for every type of substrate and enzyme of interest. Here, a generic strategy for monitoring of phosphatase activity is presented ...

A gold nanoparticle-based colorimetric probe for rapid detection of 1-hydroxypyrene in urine.

Direct and rapid detection of 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHP) is of great importance owing to its high carcinogenicity, teratogenicity and toxicity. In this study, a simple colorimetric assay for rapid determination of 1-OHP is reported, which is based on non-crosslinking aggregation of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) induced by 1-OHP in the presence of formic acid (FA). Initially, Au NPs were synthesized ...

Enzyme-regulated unmodified gold nanoparticle aggregation: a label free colorimetric assay for rapid and sensitive detection of adenosine deaminase activity and inhibition.

Based on enzyme-regulated unmodified gold nanoparticle aggregation, a visual and homogeneous assay of adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity without any other coupling enzymes, aptamers or additional modifications has been developed. The present strategy is simple, cost-effective, high throughput, selective and sensitive for ADA with a detection limit of 0.8227 U L(-1).

Gold Nanoparticle-Based Colorimetric and Electrochemical Methods for Dipeptidyl Peptidase-IV Activity Assay and Inhibitor Screening

We presented the colorimetric and electrochemical methods for determination of the dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) activity and screening of its inhibitor using gold nanoparticle (AuNP) as the probe. In the colorimetric assay, the substrate peptide with a sequence of Arg-Pro-Arg induced the aggregation and color change of AuNPs, whereas cleavage of the peptide by DPP-IV prevented the aggregati...
